Jhett Olivia is ONE!

So in November my little JLO (that’s one of the many nicknames we have for her, its stands for the 3 letters of her monogram) turned 1!!! And it was a fabulous soiree, if I do say so myself!
So fabulous in fact, I thought it could actually be published on a kids party blog…that shall remain nameless ;) I submitted my pics and crossed my fingers. Needless to say, it wasn’t selected (which of course has me even more amped up for next year, uh oh!) But….guess who has their own blog to post all the fabulous, gorgeous pics from Jhett’s party, oh yeah…ME!
The party was entirely centered around this dress I bought in Winter Park, FL with my friends when Jhett was oh, 3 months old? Yeah, I’m crazy like that! But it was worth it, I mean look at this cutie!

It's not easy being green

I could totally be a vegetarian. Really, I love all these weird veggie concoctions. Not that vegetarians are weird or anything…Just saying that every time I go into a natural Whole Foods-esque (I do live in Tally where we are slooowly catching on) market I get all in the zone. Soy, Spelt, Tofu, Kefir. Its heaven, I could spend all day there. And I am a label junkie! I must know every single thing about something before I buy it. This from the girl that loves Tofu Cacciatore but thinks Skittles are a food group.
But seriously whether you are granola or not, I am really on to something here. The Green Smoothie!

It’s so genius. It’s cleansing and pretty, and when you take it to-go people think you are uber healthy. Even little Jhett loves my smoothies. I mean really loves them. Half the time I make one for me, and she pretty much drinks the whole thing.
So here is my recipe and a few I want to try.
My Refreshing Green Smoothie  ~Adapted from muffintinmania.com~

1 cup coconut water (don’t worry you won’t even taste it)
2 handfuls of organic spinach (you can start off small and build your way up)
1/2 -3/4 cup frozen mango
1 clementine
2-4 fresh mint leaves
1/2-3/4 tsp ground ginger
Optional add ins:  honey, almonds, greek yogurt, protein powder, more mint
Blend on High until smooth.

And some variations...

Simple Green Smoothie, a la twopeasandtheirpod.com

1 large orange
1/2 banana

And if you're really brave....

6 cups spinach

Hello World

Ok, so I am extremely new to this whole blogging world (and that’s putting it nicely). But over the past few months I have started following a couple blogs, and it's quickly becoming an obsession! I’ve toyed around for a while with the idea of starting my own blog, but have always been a little intimidated.
But I once saw a sign that said, “Creativity is…I could do that!...but you didn’t” So here I am, doing it.
My name is Brittany Lauer, I am a mommy to Miss Jhett Olivia, the cutest (ok, I’m biased) little one year old on the planet and wife to my husband of two years Casey. I’m a stay at home mom, lover of all things sparkly, wanna be foodie, uncommitted crafter, and will find an excuse for a party!
So after my “I should do that!” pep talk, here I am ready to blog about life, fashion, beauty, parties, food, home and the most important role in my life, mommyhood!
Here goes nothing...
